Front Row Center to Progress
One of my favorite things about our office location is that we’re right in the heart of Mason City. Often, I’ll walk downtown to run errands instead of driving from place to place, and along the way I inevitably run into someone I know. It’s another reminder of why I love living and working here.
Another benefit of being in the center of it all is having a front-row seat to the new hotel being built just two blocks south of our office. Every day I notice something different. Watching the progress has been fascinating. Less than a year ago, I attended the groundbreaking ceremony, and now the building is rapidly taking shape. The transformation has been remarkable. (I mean even the picture I took a few days ago is ‘out of date’ to show the construction as today it looks even more different!)
And perhaps most notably, we can no longer call it the “skywalk to nowhere.” The skywalk is now officially connected to the hotel.
What excites me most isn’t just the hotel itself – it’s what the project means for our community. The new conference center will allow Mason City to host groups, events, and organizations that previously may have passed us by because we didn’t have the facilities to accommodate them. That means more visitors supporting local restaurants, shops, hotels, gas stations, and other businesses throughout North Iowa.
Economic development has a ripple effect. New visitors bring new opportunities, and those opportunities can inspire additional investment and business growth throughout downtown and beyond.
Every time I drive around the curve and see the hotel rising above the skyline, I can’t help but smile. I’m impressed by the progress, excited about the future, and grateful to have a front-row seat to watch this project come to life. I look forward to its completion and the positive impact it will have on Mason City for years to come.
